July 13, 2012 Update: JoAnny had her surgery weeks ago for a luxating patella (floating knee). She is now using her leg and is looking like a normal little chihuahua - and she has a home!!!
June 15, 2012 Update: JoAnny got her stitches out and everything looks excellent! She is doing great in her foster home - and already has an adopter! We expect that she will be walking normally soon as her rehab continues. Thank you everyone for supporting this little sweetie :)
June 6, 2012 Update:
JoAnny got her bandage off and is now beginning rehab.
June 6, 2012 Update: Joanny got her bandage off today and is resting comfortably :)
June 5, 2012 Update:
JoAnny did very well on her surgery today and sends her thank you to everyone that has helped donate to her surgery costs. The one leg was worse than expected so the surgery took 2 hours. But the other leg is okay and didn't need to be done. The vet feels that that leg will do fine once she is walking on both legs. She does have a pin in her bad leg and now has several weeks of recovery but she is sporting a very cute purple bandage and a good attitude! Thank you to Pam for letting us use your facility for this and thank you to everyone that made her surgery possible. Now it is time to do rehab and become a normal dog :)
Update: JoAnny's surgery is schedule for Tuesday, June 5, 2012.
Joanny is a very special little chihuahua. She is tiny, weighing just a couple of pounds. She is sweet and loveable. She came to us from an animal control facility and she is in need of surgery. She has difficulty walking. She has a problem called luxating patellas in both back legs that require surgery. This will cost several hundred dollars and then weeks of recooperation in a loving foster home. We have found a wonderful foster home to take care of her, and we have found a vet to do the surgery (which normally would cost thousands) at a reduced rate. This is very specialized surgery requiring an orthopedic surgery.
Now that we have a foster home, and a sympathetic vet, we now have to raise the funds to do her surgery. If you can help this little girl so that she can run and enjoy life like she should, please donate to Joaney's medical costs. Every dollar helps!
We will keep you updated on this special little girl.
